Vahali Dikri Yojana Key Features
Encouraging female school children –
Female students belonging to low-income families fail to get a proper education as that of male children. Through the above-said scheme, the state government is trying to ensure that every girl child gets the best educational help. So, the Gujarat government will give a large sum of money to the families that would boost the families to send girl child to school.
Eradicating social evils –
As child marriage is still prevalent in rural areas, parents fix the marriage of their child so that they do not have to worry about the girl. However, with the above-said scheme, parents will not try to marry off their girls and instead wait for the right legal age.
Financial help for young girls –
According to this scheme, the Gujarat government will give rupees 1, 10,000 to the registered beneficiary. However, the beneficiary amount will be provided in three installments.
Grant given during school days –
Two separate deposits will be done to the account. The first sum of rupees 4000 will be given when the girl child is admitted in class 1. The second sum of rupees 6000 will be given when the child completes class 8 and takes admission for class 9.
Grant after class 12 –
After completion class 12, the Gujarat government will transfer rupees 1 lakh to the linked bank account of the beneficiary.

What are the eligibility criteria for Vhali Dikri Scheme?
Residents of Gujarat –
The state government has come up with the scheme for providing financial help to families for their girl child. The fund will be given by the state government to ensure that eligible candidates can use the fund for better education. However, girl child and her family should be a permanent resident of Gujarat to get scheme benefits.
Age limit to receive beneficiary money –
The huge sum of rupees 1 lakh can be withdrawn by the girl beneficiary only after she attains 18 years of age. However, she can use the money for vocational training or higher studies according to her wish.
Income criteria of the family –
To get scheme benefits, the annual income limit of both the parents should not exceed rupees 2 lakh yearly. For the ones getting more than the limit will not be eligible to avail scheme benefits.
Benefits for poor households –
The scheme will help needy families and the ones included in the BPL list. Only the ones included in the BPL list can avail scheme benefits.
Benefits given to two candidates in a family –
State CM has mentioned that only two female students from each family will be given financial help.
Must be a regular school goer –
The girl child opting for scheme benefit should be a regular school student. The students should complete higher education to get scheme benefits.
Must have an active bank account –
The beneficiary money will be given in the linked bank account. So, the applicant must have an active bank account.
Documents necessary for Vahali Dikri Scheme
Residential proof –
Families willing to get scheme benefits have to produce residential documents at the time of online registration to justify that they are permanent residents of the state.
Income details –
Income certificate should be given that would help to scrutiny the financial condition of the family. This would further help to know whether the girl child of the family is in need of aid in genuine or not.
BPL certificate –
